Selection Sunday has come and gone, and that means March Madness is just days away from kicking off. With the Final Four in the Alamo City, there's something special that will be on display at the corner of Market and Alamo.
Move over, boring two-dimensional NCAA tournament bracket. There's a bigger, better, bolder bracket in town, right by the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center. It is a 3-D bracket!
San Antonio has a great history of hosting Final Fours. So putting this here only made sense. "I think it's a no-brainer. We've always done a great job hosting the Final Four here. Obviously for NBA championships here too," said former San Antonio Spur Sean Elliot.
Kansas Jayhawks fan Wayne was visiting San Antonio today from Kansas City, and agrees with Sean Elliot. He told us, "We are big basketball fans and San Antonio has had Final Fours before and they've always done a great job."
This 3-D bracket stands 16 feet high and is almost 25 feet in diameter. It'll be updated as teams march their way all the way through the NCAA tournament. No doubt it will be popular destination and selfie taking spot all the way through the Final Four, which is right here in San Antonio. "This is a basketball crazy city and I don't think anybody does it better than San Antonio," Elliot said.
And San Antonio will do it right here at the corner of Alamo and Market with the first round of games, second round, Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight, and Final Four, right into National Championship April 2nd. Just another one of many things fans from out of town can take part in Final Four weekend.
"You have a plethora of things for fans to do in the downtown area," said Elliot.
