SAN ANTONIO - A small victory on Tuesday in the battle to beat childhood hunger as thousands of meals are heading children in South Texas.

A shipment of food from the San Antonio Food Bank is heading to Zavala County to meet their food needs.

At one point, the children were listed as the hungriest in the nation and they still face poverty and food gaps.

The San Antonio Food Bank will hopefully close some of those voids for them with food distribution on Tuesday.

One in two children reportedly faces food insecurity. That's out of 3,000 kids in the county, meaning that's half the children who live there.

In San Antonio, one in four children are not sure where their next meal is coming from.
