Police arrest man suspected of torturing and killing puppy, threatening family

Police are looking for 25-year-old Guadalupe Sanchez after they found incriminating video of animal cruelty while investigating a terroristic threat he allegedly made to his family.

Police arrested a man accused of torturing and killing a puppy and threatening to do the same thing to his family.

25-year-old Guadalupe Sanchez was arrested Wednesday afternoon by Balcones Heights police in the 4400 block of Fredericksburg Road. In a Facebook post, the San Antonio Police Department thanked the public for helping locate Sanchez.

The video is under investigation and has not been released.

"This definitely qualifies as some of the worst of humanity,” said Shannon Sims, Assistant Director of Animal Care Services. “Taking something as defenseless as a small puppy and torturing…killing.”

Officials described the video as cruel and heart-wrenching.

“Mr. Sanchez was allegedly choking a puppy and possibly stabbing a puppy in this video,” SAPD spokesperson Jennifer Rodriguez said.

They later found the little dog's body on Gardina Street, on the northwest side of town, with stab wounds to the neck.

"Incidents like this one are actually felony cases,” Sims said. “You are looking at anywhere from two to ten years possibly in prison and fines up to $10,000."

Sanchez faces a felony charge of Cruelty to Animals and Terroristic Threats (Family), according to SAPD.
