Suspect dead after officer-involved shooting during Homeland Security operation

Officer-involved shooting

ICE says that a suspect was killed during an incident involving an officer-involved shooting Tuesday morning at a home on the southwest side.

Officials say that a firearm was recovered from the scene.

Law enforcement received a call for an officer in trouble around 6:55 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Vermont and Ferndale. That’s in a neighborhood in the area of Division and I-35.

Homeland Security agents were performing an operation when officials say one suspect was killed. No Homeland Security agents were injured.

There is no word yet on what led up to the suspect's death.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement sent this statement Tuesday morning:

“On May 1, 2018, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) personnel were involved in an officer-related shooting. ICE can confirm the subject is deceased and that a firearm was recovered from the scene. Per agency protocol, ICE’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) is reviewing the incident. The agency has no further comment at this time.”
