New study: Texas Is 2018’s 3rd Worst State for Children’s Health Care

The personal-finance website WalletHub releases its report on 2018's Best & Worst States for Children's Health Care.

Not all states are created equal when it comes to health care for children. In a new study, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 30 key indicators of cost, quality and access to children’s health care.

The study found Texas lags behind other states in key markers for children's health.

Children’s Health Care in Texas rankings in some areas are below, where 1st is the best in the country and 51st is worst.

* 49th – Percentage of Children in Excellent/Very Good Health

* 49th – Percentage of Uninsured Children

* 19th – Infant-Death Rate

* 49th – Percentage of Children with Unaffordable Medical Bills

* 37th – Pediatricians & Family Doctors per Capita

* 50th – Percentage of Obese Children

* 45th – Percentage of Children with Excellent/Very Good Teeth

* 41st – Percentage of Children with Medical & Dental Preventive-Care Visits in Past Year

Texas ranks above just Louisiana and Nevada in the study. Vermont, Washington, D.C., and Massachusetts earned the top three spots.
