SAN ANTONIO - The woman killed Monday by her 1-year-old's father has been identified.

Her family members knew this was coming but the confirmation comes from the Bexar County Medical Examiner's office Tuesday morning.

Family members knew the victim of the city's latest domestic violence murder was April Russell.

Police said the 35-year-old was gunned down by Adrian Hardeman in the 2100 block of NE Loop 410.

After he shot Russell, Hardeman grabbed the couple's 1-year-old and left the scene. He later dropped the child off safely with the baby's grandparents.

Monday afternoon, the 37-year-old was killed in Gonzales County. DPS troopers said they opened fire on the armed suspect following an accident in the truck he was driving.

They have not provided details that led up to the officer involved shooting.

Troopers determined after the shooting Hardeman was wanted for Russell’s murder.
