Police release new details in local rapper's shooting death

Police are still looking for the suspects.

Many San Antonians took to social media to express their condolences after a local rapper was fatally shot while driving on Loop 410 overnight.

The San Antonio Police Department said 25-year-old Chris Polk was gunned down while driving on the city's northwest side with a friend overnight.

Polk is remembered as a father and local musician.

Police have released new details in the investigation and are still looking for the suspects responsible for Polk's murder.

SAPD said the Polk and a friend were leaving a bar traveling east on Loop 410 near Callaghan Road early Saturday morning. Around 3:20 am, a silver SUV pulled up next to them and opened fire into the driver's side of the vehicle.

A second vehicle, a black four-door car, reportedly stopped in front of the car at the same time and began firing into the front of Polk's vehicle.

The passenger was able to take control of the vehicle and pull over to the right shoulder.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. He was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

No arrests have been made.
