SAN ANTONIO – Multiple law enforcement agencies took part in arresting a man who is allegedly involved in two capital murder cases.
On Wednesday, 36-year-old Jose Baldomero Flores III was arrested after a joint investigation between the San Antonio District Attorney’s Office, San Antonio Police Department, Leon Valley Police Department, and the Texas Rangers.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Baldomero is alleged to have committed the murder of Esmerelda Herrera in March of 2011. She was found murdered inside her apartments in the 100 block of General Ent Court. Baldomero is also accused of setting her apartment on fire.
Baldomero was arrested in 2011 for the murder of Herrera, but in May of that year, the case was rejected for further investigation. The District Attorney’s Office later re-opened the case in 2015.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Baldomero is also accused of murdering Heather Willms in February of 2005. She was found murdered in her apartment in the 5600 block of Grissom Road in Leon Valley.
Both murders are alleged to have been due to sexual assault elevating the cases to capital murders.
Capital murder is punishable by death of life in prison without the possibility of parole, while arson is punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison along with a fine up to $10,000.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, this is still a pending matter.
