Thousands of people gathered at the Community Bible Church in San Antonio Monday to honor the life of SAPD Detective Benjamin Marconi who was shot and killed in the line of duty last week.
The city came to a stop as the funeral procession made its way across town to the church.
"We're going to miss him so much, there's never going to be another person like him," said Dane Marconi, Detective Marconi's son.
The streets were lined with people from nearby and far away, the pews in the church were packed and his family says they couldn't be more grateful.
"Without that, my brother and I wouldn't be able to stand here in front of you and share the memories of the man we loved so much," said Jacey Lewis, Marconi's daughter.
His fellow officers said Detective Marconi took great pride in his work.
"Ben and the detectives in his unit, they dealt with the worst crimes imaginable, he was part of a team of individuals that would come to the aid of those who had seen the worst and had been victimized in our great city of San Antonio," SAPD Sgt. Mike Davis said.
