A woman who lost her life on Monday in a fatal crash, has been identified by family as 29-year-old Ermina Hernandez Solorzano.
Solorzano leaves behind her 18-month-old boy who was hospitalized as a result of the crash.
The rollover accident happened on North East Loop 410. Police said the driver lost control of her car, slid into a support leg of an overhead sign and died at the scene.
"She was a very good mother," Veronica Solorzano, Ermina's mother-in-law, said. "There's no words to describe how much of an awesome and wonderful person she was."
Her toddler, David Solorzano, who was in the car, is said to be in stable condition.
He was in a car seat at the time of the accident, but police said Solorzano was not wearing a seat belt.
"She was on top of the baby shielding him," Veronica said. "She is just a wonderful woman to have gave her life for her son."
Ermina was stay-at-home mom and her family said she was on her way to pick up her 8-year-old daughter, Daniela Hernandez, from school.
"I really loved her," Hernandez said. "She was so special to me."
The family is asking for help from the community and has set up a Go Fund Me page for anyone who wants to show support.
