SAN ANTONIO -- The bright smile in her pictures speak to how baby Taliyah Edwards impacted so many during her short life.

"She brought so much joy to our home. We can't go within our own minds to get anything to try to find out the understanding of what tragic has happened in our lives," said her great-aunt, Chantal Williams.

The one-year-old's family and friends gathered at Sunset Funeral home to honor her.

Police said on Oct. 28 Taliyah was found dead in a burning home. She was there alone.

Her mother, 23-year-old Tyler Terry, and her boyfriend Charles Shorts showed up at the scene saying they had only left for a while. Both were arrested for child abandonment.

Williams said today was about Taliyah's life.

"God is going to reveal everything that he needs to in due season."

Her father and Army veteran 20-year-old Khalif Edwards didn't want to speak on camera, but said he had custody of his daughter at least twice a month.

Both Taliyah's cause of death and the fire are under investigation.

Her mother is out of jail, but not at the funeral.
