A giant accounting firm plans to expand its footprint in the Alamo City bringing hundreds of jobs to the city in exchange for millions of dollars in tax breaks.
On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott announced the company selected San Antonio. Texas offered Ernst & Young $2,625,000 in incentives.
"I got to review closely the incentive package being offered and it's fair and what we are doing is incentivizing it enough to make it worth their while to come here in San Antonio," said Manny Pelaez.
Pelaez adds that the move will increase the attention on San Antonio to help attract more companies.
"Ernst & Young is one of the most important financial services companies and consulting companies on the planet," Pelaez said.
The global company plans to invest more than $10 million in real estate and personal property and create at least 600 jobs with an earning average of $50,000.
The company will be located in the Farinon Business Park, on 12707 Silicon Drive.
The company marks the latest addition to at least 12 companies successfully recruited by San Antonio in 2017.
Ernst & Young is expected to open in 2019.
