A suspected wrong-way driver involved in a head-on crash is facing charges Monday.

The crash happened early Saturday morning at Loop 1604 and Emory Peak. Deputies say Kevin Garcia, 25, was driving the wrong way in his Ford Fusion when he collided head-on with a vehicle with five people in it.

Garcia reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol and was not steady on his feet and his speech was slurred.

Police say out of the five people in the other car, one victim had a fractured spine and another victim had injuries to the ribs, liver and colon. The remaining people in the car had minor injuries.

Garcia faces a charge of intoxication assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
