When you watch the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee on Thursday, you’ll see a local face among the competitors.

Alex Iyer, an eighth-grader at the Geneva School of Boerne, will compete in the televised event.

According to the official website, Alex is a black belt, plays tennis and the cello, and is president of his school’s National Junior Honor Society. He competed in last year’s national spelling bee and finished tied for 22nd.

Good luck, Alex!
