Floresville ISD placed the district's elementary, middle and high schools on lockdown Wednesday morning after law enforcement alerted the district to an armed suspect in the area.
The lockdown was lifted after police said they apprehended the suspect.
Concerned parents posted alerts on social media from the school sent at 7 a.m. and 7:11 a.m.
"This morning, a car rear-ended an FISD bus on Hwy 181 in front of Floresville High School. There were no students on the bus at the time," Floresville ISD Superintendent Sherri Bays told parents in an afternoon email. "The driver of the car was injured, fled in the direction of Floresville High School and was reportedly armed."
"To ensure the safety of our students, at approximately 6:30 we began securing the FSE, FMS and FHS campuses and FISD Transportation by implementing lockdown procedures and rerouting FSE buses."
Following the arrest, the district said campuses went back to normal schedules.
The area has been vigilant to respond to possible threats following the deadly church shootings in nearby Sutherland Springs where 26 people were gunned down.
Further details on the suspect were not immediately available.
