A couple of Kemah police officers went above and beyond the call – well, meow – on Friday when they rescued a kitten stuck in a drain.

In a Facebook post on Kemah Police Department’s page, police say Sgt. Barmore and Officer Staton responded to a call of someone stuck in a drain hole on FM 518. They soon found that someone was a kitten, went to both ends of the drain hole and crawled inside.

Police say after getting the kitten’s attention with a Whataburger snack, they were able to get their new furry friend out.

The kitten was turned over to Animal Control to be checked out. Officers say a few Whataburger employees have offered to adopt the kitten if the owner is not found.
