Alamo Escape Mobile Escape Room debuts in San Antonio

A new San Antonio-based mobile escape room game is made for team building, education and fun.

The first mobile escape room game in South Texas opens its doors this weekend.

Escape rooms, which challenge groups to solve a series of puzzles in a set amount of time, have been growing in popularity in the past few years. There are now about a dozen in San Antonio and 100 in Texas, according to Mobile Escape Room owner Peter Carollo.

"The escape room idea is really good for team building," Carollo said. "the problem with team building is getting everyone together and transporting them miles away... we figured we'd make it easier and bring the experience to them."

Mobile Escape Room was built with team building in mind, Carollo said, and that can include business groups, schools, churches and parties.

The experience is also unique for the attention to historical detail. The premise of the game is that you are locked in the prison of the Alamo and must escape to deliver the famous Travis letter. More than six months of research and preparation went into the final product. Carollo said his team worked with local San Antonio historians to make the elements in the game look like the Alamo during the 13-day siege.

The Mobile Escape Room will be at the Ridge Shopping Center at 4553 West Loop 1604 starting Friday, February 23. For more information, visit their website or call 210-983-4263.
