Several local hospitals are in need of blood as they continue to treat victims of the Sutherland Springs church shooting.

Four buses from the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center were at the community building in Sutherland Springs for several hours on Thursday. They sent out over 200 units of blood to hospitals that are treating shooting victims that are still recovering.

What’s important to note is that the blood helping the victims was donated before the shooting. What STBTC is doing now is making sure that the next people that need blood can get it, and that’s why donating blood on a regular basis is important.

The center was looking to collect 125 units on Thursday, with a focus on O-negative and platelet donors.

For information about donation drives or if you want to set up an appointment at one of their donor rooms in the San Antonio area, you can visit their official website here.
