SAN ANTONIO -- The accused murderer who escaped the San Antonio State Hospital Sunday was transferred to a maximum security facility Friday.

State Rep. Roland Gutierrez's office confirmed Gary Ligon was en route to North Texas State Hospital in Vernon as of 10 a.m.

As KENS 5 reported, Ligon was convicted of murdering and dismembering his wife in 1990.

Ligon, 62, was found in the 8000 block of City Base Landing on Tuesday morning after his escape.

He was previously found not guilty by reason of insanity and committed to a state mental hospital after he was tried.
