Mark Henry is officially headed to the WWE Hall of Fame.

The Silsbee, Texas native known as the world’s strongest man was announced this week as the final inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2018.

Henry has been synonymous with the Lone Star State. Born and raised in Silsbee, he’s taken advantage of his national profile born as an Olympian and maintained as a WWE superstar.

He’s often seen on the sidelines of Texas Longhorn football games and has made many references to being a Longhorn fan on WWE programming.

Henry even came out as a San Antonio Spurs fan this past year when he helped The Coyote during in a sketch during Game 2 of the 2017 Western Conference Semifinals.

Henry has held many championships in the WWE over the year but his incredible staying power and ability to change his character to fit what the company needed has been incredibly impressive.

And he wasn’t just known for his strength either. He started as a patriotic athlete but got over with fans as Sexual Chocolate, which fans chant at him to this day during WWE events. He truly became a transcendent figure during his Hall of Pain run but his masterpiece was likely the time that he made everyone think that he was retiring, only to attack John Cena and start a feud for the title.

Interestingly, while Henry isn’t on WWE television programming on a weekly or even monthly basis these days, he’s never announced his retirement and usually shows up a few times a year for high profile matches, like when he entered the Royal Rumble in San Antonio and the Andre the Giant Battle Royal in Arlington.

It’ll be great to see what he has to say in his Hall of Fame acceptance speech. If it’s as good as his faux-retirement speech, it has the potential to steal the show.
