A 16-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in Kirby on Friday afternoon.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the teen as Favian Ramirez.
The Kirby Police Department says that the suspect is the same age, and the shooting may have stemmed from a disagreement over a game of basketball.
Kirby police were called to John H. Sterling Memorial Park around 2:18 p.m. on Friday. When officers arrived, they said that they found the victim on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was pronounced dead a few hours later at the San Antonio Military Medical Center.
“We’ve got about 20, a list of about 20 witnesses that were all present and saw something,” Kirby Police Chief Kevin Bois said. “So from those initial interviews, they were able to build an ID on the suspect.”
Kirby police said their investigation is already well underway.
