Funeral services were held Wednesday for nine members of the Holcombe family who lost their lives in the Sutherland Springs shooting tragedy over a week ago.
The Floresville Event Center was filled as neighbors, friends and family gathered to remember their lives.
People lined up for more than an hour to pay their respects. Three thousand people attended the services, and another 200 were turned away because the venue was at capacity.
The Holcombe family lost nine members on November 5 spanning several generations
Bryan Holcombe was the Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church. His wife of four decades, Karla Holcombe, lost her life that day, too.
Bryan and Karla’s son Marc was killed, along with his 1-year-old daughter, Noah.
Their other son, John, survived the attack, but his pregnant wife, Crystal Holcombe, died.
Crystal’s three children from a previous marriage – Emily, Megan and Greg – also were killed.
It was clear from the number of people in attendance that this family is loved by the community. The bodies of the victims were buried privately at Sutherland Springs Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon.
