According to the San Antonio Police Department, a man was shot by officers as he pointed a gun at them in an incident that happened on the northeast side on Saturday morning.
SAPD says that they received a call from a woman at the 10500 block of Ballerina Court who claimed that her husband had a gun and was threatening to kill himself.
SAPD Chief Williams McManus said that as officers approached the armed man, he pointed the gun at the floor, then at the officers. That's when officers began firing.
They struck the man in the arm and he was transferred to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
McManus said that the man that was shot was a 39-year-old veteran, but didn't provide any additional details about the identity of the suspect. He also said that the officer that shot the suspect has been with SAPD for four years and has been placed on administrative duty as the investigation into the incident continues.
