SAN ANTONIO – A 14-month-old girl died Friday morning after suffering multiple injuries to the head.

Javiele Lee Frias Jr. is sitting inside of the Bexar County Jail facing capital murder charges.

Police were called to a home on the city’s south side just before 6:30 p.m. on April 3, in the 1700 block of Pleasanton Road for an injured person.

When police arrived, they found the 14-month-old child with multiple abrasions and bruises on her head.

Emergency crews transported the little girl to University Hospital where she was put on life support.

Police arrested 22-year-old Javiele Lee Frias Jr. who said the child fell off the bed. During an interview, Frias told police he was holding the baby by the legs and throwing her into the air.

According to police, Frias missed catching the child who hit the tile floor. When she wouldn’t stop crying, Frias shook her causing more injuries.

Frias was initially charged with injury to a child. He's now facing capital murder charges.
