If you're craving the “macho” special from Chris Madrid's for dinner you're going to have to wait.
A fire nearly destroyed the popular burger joint Sunday morning. Just one day after the fire, many loyal customers showed up shocked that Chris Madrid's was closed for business, including its food truck parked outside.
Security guard Roger Cook said he's been on the clock more than 24 hours with no rest to watch over the popular burger joint.
“I’m here to watch building from looters and vandalism,” Cook said.
Cook has also been breaking the news to hungry patrons that the restaurant is closed for a short time.
KENS 5 attempted to contract owner Richard Peacock for an interview by phone and at the restaurant. A woman reached there declined an interview until the restaurant re-opens.
As of 2:30 p.m. Monday, the San Antonio Fire Department said the cause has yet to be determined nor the dollar amount of damages.
