SA firefighters help raise money for brother with incurable disease

On Saturday, the San Antonio Firefighters Association helped raise money for fellow firefighter Brad Hauer, who suffers from an incurable disease.

Members of the San Antonio Firefighters Association staged a blood drive and BBQ taco sale to help the family of Brad Hauer, who’s been fighting an auto-immune disease called Stiff Person Syndrome.

There’s no cure for the condition, which causes widespread and debilitating body pain.

Because the family has six children, and Brad’s wife has been caring for him and unable to work, fellow firefighters made sure to show up in full force.

“I can’t even put into words, the outpouring of support and love and compassion shown while I’ve been in the hospital, out of the hospital,” Hauer said. “People are showing up daily. We’ve been truly blessed.”

There’s also a GoFundMe page started by Hauer’s family. You can contribute here.
