It's that time of year again! And if you're looking for that fresh-cut tree with that distinct Christmas smell, one local shop wants to help your search go a little smoother.

Papa Noel has been in business for almost 40 years and it’s become a go-to for locals looking for real pine needles.

"To have the smell of the tree in the house, it just feels more Christmasy" shopper Danny Willman said.

The concept is simple: You take a walk around, spot the tree you want, and let the employees handle the rest.

But what makes the perfect tree? It all comes down to the size, species, and quality.

"This would be on the higher end of trees that we have,” co-manager Tyler B said as he pointed out one tall specimen. “If you look at it, it's 10 feet tall or more, it's perfectly symmetrical, and this is as beautiful as a tree you're going to get."

For some, the smell of the pine needles filling their home is worth the price tag. Trees at Papa Noel range from $39 to even $500. If you're in the market to ditch the plastic and buy real, tree farms have you covered.

Tyler suggests showing up early. He says the type of car you bring isn't as important since the employees tie the tree on your hood, but he says trucks make the job easier. You do not need to bring a dolly or any equipment and there are plenty of activities to keep kids occupied while you find the perfect pine.
