HELOTES, Texas - Get ready for good eatin’ because Slim Chickens is officially open in Texas’ Hill County.

The chicken chain opened its first San Antonio area location at 12530 Bandera Road in Helotes on May 12.

“We are excited to bring ‘Life Changing Chicken’ to the San Antonio area! Our first store will be in Helotes and we have plans for many more,” franchise owner Chris Dharod said.

The restaurant first opened in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003. Slim Chickens is a fast-casual concept known for its Delta roots, handmade dipping sauces, and fresh chicken cooked to order, according to a press release.

On the menu, customers will find southern favorites including Buffalo wings, chicken sandwiches, wraps, salads, chicken and waffles, and 15 different sauces. Sides include mac and cheese, fries, potato salad, and fried pickles, fried mushrooms or fried okra.

The restaurant’s charitable partner for the grand opening is the San Antonio Food Bank. Slim Chickens aims to feed 100,000 people through partnerships with the food bank in its first 12 months of operation, according to a press release.

“Partnering with our community is important to us. We are excited to give back to our community while offering a unique dining experience,” Dharod said.

The Helotes location will be open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.
