SAN ANTONIO – A new flavor from Blue Bell Ice Cream is sure to satisfy your sweet and salty cravings.

It also packs quite a crunch!

To celebrate National Ice Cream Day on July 16, Blue Bell debuted their Sweet ‘n Salty Crunch. It’s a delicious vanilla ice cream loaded with chocolate-coated pretzel bites, chopped roasted almonds, and milk chocolate chunks.

Loving how it sounds? Good news, it’s already available in stores in both gallon and pint sizes. But it’s only for a limited time.

“Our new flavor was inspired by the popular snack mixes that combine sweet and salty foods,” said Wayne Hugo, vice president of sales and marketing for Blue Bell. “When developing Sweet ‘n Salty Crunch we tried many different recipes and combinations of ingredients. But in the end, the mixture of chocolate, pretzels, and almonds in a vanilla ice cream received rave reviews from our taste panels.”

In case you didn’t know, in 1984 President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day.

Because of this, every year Blue Bell celebrates with the release of a new flavor. Last year, fans were dancing down the aisles to get Cookie Two Step that’s a creamy vanilla ice cream with hints of brown sugar, chunks of chocolate crème filled cookies and tasty chocolate chip cookie dough pieces. Cookie Two Step returned to stores in June.

The Eyewitness This Morning team got to try out the new flavor Thursday morning. See their reactions below!
