Mi Casa | My Community plays ball with Lifetime Recovery

Lifetime Recovery, this month's winner, is an important organization in our community. Their team helps people who are battling addictions.

The new KENS 5 Mi Casa | My Community initiative launched this week with much fanfare. The Great Day SA team and sponsors surprised Lifetime Recovery as the first winning recipient.

Lifetime Recovery serves thousands of residents annually that need help overcoming the devastation of active addiction. Physical exercise is an integral part of the healing process at the residential campus. The men play softball to relieve angst, enhance self-esteem and help them think more clearly.

“Our residents are out playing ball two to three times a day,” said Denise Powers, the organization's director of development.

Mi Casa | My Community sponsors and a team of volunteers gave a helping hand by transforming the Lifetime Recovery field and donating new softball equipment.

At KENS 5, we know how important it is to inspire community service and bring hope to those in need. Through Mi Casa │ My Community, the KENS 5 Great Day SA team and sponsors are changing the lives of people right here in San Antonio.

While some of the community service projects are planned in advance based on public solicitation, others are fluid as the need arises.

Mi Casa │ My Community is made possible by these generous sponsors: UBuildIt, Atlas Floors Carpet One and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW #60).
