The Alamo City is getting ready for its biggest New Year's Eve celebration ever. The city is reaching a major milestone next year as it celebrates its 300 birthday.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg is also gearing up for San Antonio's biggest celebration to date.

"Thanks for being here as we embark on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Mayor Nirenberg told a crowd on Wednesday morning.

He revealed some new details about the city's New Year’s Eve celebration kicking off San Antonio's 300 birthday.

"It's going to be the biggest celebration the city has ever seen," he said.

Set at Hemisphere Park, the party will have food, art, and lots of entertainment. Hitting the stage are acts like Little Joe y La Familia, REO Speedwagon, and Pat Benatar.

Mayor Nirenberg also said the event is not only about fun but kicking off the celebration of San Antonio's culture and history.

"San Antonio’s tricentennial will acknowledge our rich past, celebrate our present, and it will propel us into the future," he said.

Nirenberg said that in 2018, the city is projected to bring in almost 300,000 visitors, adding more than $119 million to its revenue.

"San Antonio is unique and we are going to tell its story.”
