A native San Antonio celebrity received a huge Texas-sized homecoming welcome at the San Antonio Airport on Friday.

More than a dozen family members and friends of Mason Alexander Park were anxiously waiting for his arrival as he’s in town performing in the national tour of the Broadway hit Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

The show is playing the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday and Sunday.

Aside from being an actor, Park also runs his own non-profit and has been helping people who are fighting cancer and diabetes since he was 8 years old.

“So just to have him here to support him and cheer him on when he comes in is just amazing,” said Lisa Park, Mason’s mom.

“It’s fun to get back into San Antonio with my dream job and this amazing tour and story,” Mason said when he arrived. “It’s weird just walking in and I definitely did not expect this.”

Mason appeared on KENS 5 when he was just 8 years old. Deborah Knapp worked with him on an American Diabetes public service announcement. At the time, Mason was an ambassador for the association.
