Third Annual Mission Reach Flotilla Festival celebrates family and Fiesta

The Mission Ranch Flotilla Festival put on by the San Antonio River Foundation and SA River Authority is a great celebration of family fun at Fiesta.

SAN ANTONIO — The Third Annual Mission Reach Flotilla Festival featured food, music, art, and fun.

"A lot of people like to celebrate Fiesta for fun because they just like the holiday of it,” 9-year-old Emma Cantu said. “They like to go out to the different parades and different festivals and carnivals.”

The day kicked off with a flotilla parade, where participants dressed up and floated around the San Antonio River near Mission County Park.

"It's a family event. I brought my whole family, my kids, my mom, my sister," Arturo Gomez said.

The San Antonio River Foundation and the San Antonio River Authority organized the event and say that it's a great way for San Antonians to celebrate their river.

"I see the river and the springs and the river as the soul of San Antonio. It's why we're here. It's why our cultures came here, is because of these waters, and we neglected them for a while back in the day. And now we're sort of re-celebrating them," said Robert Amerman, executive director of the San Antonio River Foundation.

Parade participants also competed for prizes for their costumes.
