Its a tough job. Attending all fiesta events. Wearing stunning gowns while balancing an ornate crown on your head. Meeting new and exciting people and representing the city. Have your college education paid for.

Interested? Well the Miss Fiesta Organization is now seeking new royal blood for the 2010 season.

Last year's winner was the lovely Jessica Ramirez. Jessica studied Communications at Our Lady of the Lake University. ( I was especially proud of her because she is one of my former students at the Lake.)

The Miss Fiesta San Antonio organization provides scholarships to deserving young women from in and around Bexar County who are 18 to 23 years old. More notably, it selects the Miss Fiesta Court that represents "the people's queen" during the ten days of Fiesta by participating in parades, celebrations and other official events.

Miss Fiesta San Antonio and her court also travel to schools to speak to children about the importance of education. Finally, she serves as an ambassador to festivals and celebrations throughout the state, country and world during the year.

Applications are now available online at www.missfiesta.org and are due November 5, 2009.

Once you apply, you will undergo an interview process by the Miss Fiesta San Antonio Board of Directors, and then finalists are selected to participate in the Miss Fiesta pageant.

The pageant takes place at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 7:00pm.
